Yiannis Yiakoumis and Te-Yuan Huang, PhD candidates from Stanford are $10,000 richer having won the inaugural Cable Show App Challenge.  Their winning app allows users to monitor their home network and prioritize traffic coming into the home.

The final day of the 2012 Cable Show kicked off this morning with the last general session. To get the session started, Piers Morgan sat down for a one on one interview with Conan O’Brien to discuss his move away from traditional television to an online media empire.

The Cable Show App Challenge is under way at Imagine Park, with teams from Rutgers, MIT, Stanford Wellesley and Pace working to build mobile apps in 48 hours.

  As part of The Cable Show 2012, we’re highlighting one of the recent trends in television: the development of apps (for both smartphones and tablets) that deliver, extend and enhance the viewing of TV.

  To bring some local flavor to The Cable Show, Imagine Park is featuring Boston-area startups. Boston is known worldwide as a hub for innovative ideas and these companies bring new ideas and fresh thinking, all powered by broadband.

The second day of the 2012 Cable Show gets underway with the second general session. The session got off to a start with Verizon announcing a new content discovery service as part of a discussion of content delivery and consumption.

Yesterday’s General Session opened with a performance by Northside iBand.
