Paul Rodriguez - Director of Online Content, National Cable & Telecommunications Association

Paul Jay RodriguezAs Director of Online Content for the National Cable & Telecommunications Association, Paul Rodriguez is responsible for crafting and executing online strategies to communicate the views of NCTA to all key constituencies. And as a longtime tech geek and an observer of both popular culture and technology, Rodriguez analyzes how broadband technology changes our life on a daily basis.

Prior to joining the Communications & Public Affairs Department at NCTA, Rodriguez was a partner at P&P MediaWorks, which provided strategic marketing & communications services for a variety of clients across the cable industry, including cable operators, programmers, trade associations, and hi-tech companies.

An early web adopter, Rodriguez went through Prodigy, AOL and Netcom before getting cable modem access at home, which which he uses to clear comment spam from his personal blog on an hourly basis. In addition, Wikipedia via BlackBerry access is his greatest ally.

Michael Turk - Vice President of Industry Grassroots, National Cable & Telecommunications Association

John Elway and Michael TurkAs Vice President of Industry Grassroots for the National Cable & Telecommunications Association, Michael Turk is working to build a robust grassroots activist base for the cable industry (That’s him on the right, with Hall of Fame NFL quarterback John Elway). Using experience gained in more than 10 years of campaign politics and Internet activism, Turk is employing traditional grassroots organizing and sophisticated web based tools to carry the cable industry’s message to Congress and state legislatures.

In his professional career, Turk has lived at the intersection of politics and technology - crossing from the political, to the commercial and into government. He has managed the Internet operations for three Presidential campaigns, served as the e-Government Portfolio Manager for Government-to-Citizen projects at the Office of Management and Budget; redeployed the Department of Energy’s internet presence at energy.gov; and worked with Grassroots Enterprise - an Internet focused public affairs firm - as a technology and activism consultant.

A self-described gadget and tech freak, Turk jumped at the opportunity to work for NCTA and assist an industry that has been at the bleeding edge of growing and improving the Internet, digital voice services, and video entertainment. CableTechTalk.com gives Turk the chance to write about two topics he’s passionate about – telecom policy and technology development.

You can reach Turk by mail at turk-at-cabletechtalk-dot-com.
