A Few Cool Gadgets
As I mentioned earlier, I took a quick trip through the exhibit hall this morning to scope out the new tech toys on display. If you are a gadget freak like me, this is truly nerd-vana. My favorite so far has to be the MyVu personal video system.

I’ve seen similar personal video eyewear for sale in the SkyMall catalog for a while now and always wondered how good they would actually be. Having taken a pair for a test drive, I have to say I am actually impressed. With a retail in the $149 to $249 price range, they will still require a video source like the iPod. For travelers who don’t want to watch Pirates of the Caribbean on a two-inch screen, they provide a pretty good option.
More after the jump.

Speaking of the iPod, if the shuffle is too big for you, you might consider Pic ‘n Roll’s Lava Mp3 player. This thing is about the size of Zoolander’s phone. I tried to get a close up, but to fill my camera’s lens, I was well below the necessary focal range. I needed a jeweler’s loop to work the buttons on the back. It’s a 2GB Mp3 player that retails around $40 and is currently available at Fry’s Electronics. Just try not to drop it on carpet.

Sansa (a division of SanDisk) has a neat little device called the TakeTV. Download video to your PC in a number of different formats to the device and plug it straight into your TV for viewing on the big screen. It also works with a growing music and video service called Fanfare.

Finally, Alienware has a new line of very colorful desktop PCs coming out. This one is skinned like an alien battle cruiser complete with planets and stars on the front. If you’re looking to use your broadband connection for some serious gaming, this may be the machine you’ve been waiting for.
There is a lot more to be seen, and I’ll be making another trip after the afternoon sessions. I’ll try to get back and grab some pics of the LimePC – a very cool handheld PC (literally, not a PDA, it’s a palm sized Linux based computer, about the size of an Nano). It hooks up to a monitor or you can pick it up and take it with you.
That and more later today.
